China

This blog is about my experience in China as an Independent miss. I taught at a University for the 2004-2005 school year. It was one of the BEST experiences in my life. I pray that one day, the Lord will lead our family back. The pictures are gone from my blog b/c my flickr account was inactive and I haven't had the chance to upload them again. The last few months of my journey are not posted on this blog because they started cracking down on the University where I was teaching and we are being watched. :)

Happy Birthday Olivia

Yesterday was Olivia's Birthday but we celebrated it tonight because that was when we were all free. She has become such a special friend to me. She is one of the sweetest and kindest girls I have ever met. She was so thankful and so proud of her "Mexican" Birthday. We had alot of fun...just a girls night! We watched Princess Diaries while we pigged out! They loved the Mexican food. I think I should come back here and open a REAL western restaraunt!! All the so called western restaraunts here are not all that western!!!

I hope to be able to do something special for the other girls birthdays as well. Cooking here just takes all day...with two burners and one pot and pan and an oven the size of a microwave. It is a challenge!!! I'm trying to figure out how to make Pizza for six people in a little oven...I guess it will have to be done in shifts...I'm not real sure!

Keep thinking about them all. I'm going to try to meet with Luna and Amy on Sunday so I can talk to Luna and answer any questions she might have. She want's to come to the Sunday meeting...I think that will be good for her! Exciting things are happening!!! :)

Birthday Girl

My Sweet and Precious Friend...I "think" that she will be my sister soon!

Birthday Cake

If you ever run out of powdered sugar to make icing...just use melt chocolate chips and butter....it works and tastes REALLY good!!!

Olivia blowing out her candles and making a wish. Her wish made me cry..."My wish was that you would come back to see me next year". Little does she know that I have been "thinking" lots about being able to come back to visit them next year.

Mexican Birthday!!!

Amy, Luna, Jasmine, Connie, Olivia, Janice

Making tacos and eating Mexican food for the first time...it was a hit. Oh, yes...they wanted the Ranch dressing...it is actually good. They have eaten a whole bottle of Ranch in 1 MONTH!!! I cannot believe it!!!

Janey's Easter Basket

Janey with her Easter basket. She is going through the phase where she does a fake smile for all cameras...isn't it beautiful? She has such a pretty smile maybe one day I can capture it!

Janey and Hopie at Easter

Janey and Hopie showing off all the eggs they found! They had a blast! The sun is bright and the fake smile is showing so...not such a good picture of the little one!

Easter Dinner...

Our Easter dinner proved to be a great time together. It is my hope and “thought” that in the coming weeks and months that at least one heart would be accepting of Him. It is my desire to see the change before I leave but I also realize that may not happen…it may take years. I shared The Truth with them in three different ways. Now they have a plant to look at each morning when they wake-up and each night before they close their eyes. It is my “thought” that each time they look at the plant that they are reminded of the new life that HE so freely offers us and the blood that HE shed just for us. Amy, our sister, seemed to be a bit of an encouragement to the girls as well. She explained everything in Chinese so that they could understand it better. Connie, seemed very receptive and very interested in everything. I “think” she will have more questions as time passes. I am glad that I listened to Him and invited her.

Olivia and Jasmine are very hungry and interested but they are also very scared. Originally they had said that they wanted to read “The Purpose” together…they looked at the book on Sunday and later in the week got a little scared about it all. So…I’m waiting. It may be that I leave them here in hopes that they will one day read them. I know they are supposed to get them…just may not be now. He is working. Amy and I are definitely going to be meeting together to talk about the book. Amy has been talking with Luna, another girl in her class, about HIM and HIS ways. She said that Luna seems very interested. I am hoping to get together with both of them sometime in this coming week.

Olivia’s Birthday is on Tuesday so we are going to celebrate Wednesday night with Mexican food!!!! YUM! I think I will just do tacos this time…enchiladas will come later! I will be cooking like crazy on Wednesday!!! I’m so excited. It will be a lot of fun!

I got sick on Monday of this week and finally started feeling better Friday afternoon. I have been exhausted. The first day of class that I have the students they watched a movie, the second day we met for about 10 minutes and I gave them an assignment. I just did not have the energy to do anything. The first of the week I felt as though I had the flu and it seemed to evolve into a sinus infection. I’m so glad I’m feeling better…I was getting tired of being tired all of the time!! The bed had become my best friend. My students have all been wonderful. Jasmine and Olivia came over one day and cooked soup for me. Another day, Connie came by and brought apples and then Friday night four students came over and brought me steamed dumplings, bananas, and some kind of drink…I don’t know what it is…but I’m sure it is “healthy”! All of my students have been lecturing me about drinking plenty of water and then they say “You need to pay better attention to the weather and dress right.” As if the weather and what I had on made me sick!! They have really funny ideas over here…for example…eating ice cream, anything cold or fried food will give you a cough! If that was the case I would have a constant cough. They have all been wonderful though. Thankfully, I will be back to normal this coming week!!!

Please continue thinking about Jasmine and Olivia as well as Connie and Luna! Also think that our Father would continue to enlgarge Amy's territory and that she would be bold enough to share Him with others.
